Couldn't agree with your analysis more, Aaron. We definitely need players like Sgarbossa and Connoly in the system. McGinn is definitely a solid bottom 6 player. I could see him fitting in nicely with Olver and Jones, or possibly centering the 4th line ( Kevin Porter just sucks so hard....)

Has more points than both Galiaradi and Winnik. Plus, he's a +hockey player. Galiardi and Winnik were both -hockey players. He'll fit nicely into the future.

He was also playing on the much better Sharks, doesn't really account for anything for the +/-

That's true. You can see the identity the Avs are creating around their skilled players though. McGinn led the Sharks in hits...

Sgarbossa is the gem of this trade. 5'11 200 guy with vision and hands. He's a great finisher. I trust the Avs scouting staff here.

McGinn has great speed and hits VERY hard. Very gritty player, but he also takes dumb penalties (roughing, boarding, etc.)

He doesn't have the best hands, but he does have a nice shot.

He gets caught up the ice a lot trying to make the big hit on the forecheck, watch out for his neutral zone/d zone play, not the best for a "shut down" line.

This season his play improved greatly playing along side Michal Handzus. I think he learned a lot from Zus about his role, and they had some decent chemistry at times.

He and Logan Couture are butt buddies, so I'm curious to see how depressed they are both going to be over this.

Michael Sgarbossa # - C

2010-11 Sudbury OHL 37GP / 29G / 33A / 62P

Hes 5'11" 175lbs he needs to add some weight but so far I am hearing hes a lights out scorer. Between McGinn and that prospect we got the best player in the trade and at least one pretty sick prospect.

Tough to see either of those guys go but we got better now and in the future. Galiardi either realizing or not realizing his potential will probably tell us more about how this looks in the future.

^Sounds a lot like Galiardi. Lol.

Musick will tell you, Galiardi has always been one of my favorites. Just couldn't find any consistency here; since his rookie year. I think he's a great player and a change of scenery is probably going to do him wonders. His biggest downfall is stupid penalties... Get ready.

You know what you're getting with Winnik. He's a nice addition for a team like the Sharks, at this point in the year.

I think that's a pure hockey trade. Good for both teams.

I watched a few Youtube highlights (I'm lazy when it comes to looking up players) and I gotta say, I like those hands. Strange that both he and Connolly went undrafted. But they both seem solid. I am very happy that Sherman insisted on young guys instead of an older career-minor leaguer. At least both have potential. Time will tell if they have what it takes.

Where do you get 200 from? I know weights can be really off on sites but I had not seen that anywhere.

It was their size.. Sgrabossa looks like he has the potential to fill out and be similar to Duchene though in size.

I'm figuring once he matures he'll be around there. 190-200 about there. that was just a guess though.

Ahh yeah he is 19 @ 175lbs.. That is really not bad for 19.. He may have not been drafted because he is a little later in his physical development. From what people are saying both prospects seem to be pretty solid even though they are undrafted. But especially Sagrabossa he at least has the potential to fill out.

I kinda think of him as the Avs' Rod Smith. Undrafted but a good work ethic skill base and he'll own

Losing Galiardi hurts.. except for the fact that he has struggled so much and even now is on the cusp of being scratched with the current line up. At first I was pissed but it's looking like a smart trade for the future.

I have to admit management is seemingly tired of inconsistent players. Winnik is the only one traded that does not fit that bill.

You guys will like Ginner. Grit & has scored a few very timely goals this season.

Going to miss watching him play.

Haha.. I think we were smart not to trade him. Guys that come on in the second half are actually pretty valuable. I like that he has turned it up.. EVEN though he was moved off Stastny's line it shows a lot of character as well.

I would say...

Mueller - Duchene - Hejduk
Landeskog - O'Reilly - Downie
Olver - Stastny - Jones
McLeod - McClement - Kobasew

? That's what I would do, anyways...
